I thought I would bring you up to speed on a few things that I am working on to help you learn to invest more profitably with less risk. Today’s blog lists a few things that you can look forward to seeing in the coming months
Videos
Every week I post 2 blogs, as you probably know. But did you know that I also post a video every week? My last video on November 6th of last week covered the Consumer Discretionary sector. I made the call to be wary of the sector so long as TESLA remains such an overbought stock, given its weighting in that sector index. This appears to be an accurate call so far. Here is the link.
MoneyShow
I’m appearing in 2 MoneyShow webinars in a couple of weeks. One is a panel discussion, and one is my presentation that I did for the CSTA a while ago on contrarian investing. You can register free for either one right now…..Here is the link.
They are:
Panel Discussion: THE BEST STOCKS TO BUY FOR A LATE-STAGE BULL MARKET
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2021 – 4:15 PM TO 5:00 PM EST
AND….
Webinar: BEATING THE CROWD THROUGH CONTRARIAN INVESTING
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2021 – 1:00 PM TO 1:30 PM ET
Comprehensive Technical Analysis Course
I’m just finishing the content for my upcoming online TA course. Filming will begin in a few weeks, and the course should be out by early January. Its been a big project, but really exciting.
I really want this to be well received, so I am trying not to leave anything out. The main goal was to be pragmatic, not theoretical. I left out the aspects of TA that most of you will never use. I strictly focused on how to make money and limit your risk. Below is an outline of the course. Within these headlines are things like trading psychology, pragmatic EWT, using beta, tools to find stock ideas, sector rotation, important candlesticks, correlation studies, hedging risk, trading rules, asset allocation and position sizing strategies…In other words – the whole ball of wax! Each heading is divided into subsectors and then broken down again into specific aspects of these sub headings. Everything’s presented in bite-sized pieces – which is important given that there are many hours of learning material. You can do one or two modules as your time allows, and then pick up the flow again when you are ready. To ensure you are understanding the content – there are checklists and quizzes along the way. This helps to keep your head in the game. No sleeping in class allowed!
This course will start you off with a few of the basics. This will serve as a reminder to you old dogs in the game to see the forest rather than focus on each tree. Then it jumps right into finding, buying, selling and managing your stock portfolio. We’ll go down the rabbit hole and cover the finer aspects of trading, but it will always be focused on what actually works for you as an individual investor. Again – pragmatic, not theoretical. This course contains the lessons I’ve drawn from reading hundreds of books, and a myriad of professional training programs, lectures, and courses. More importantly, the system I teach is the result of 31 years of professionally trading stocks. This “school of hard-knocks” training has produced a systematic game plan that I know works. And yet – Its geared towards retail investors (that’s YOU!) — not pro traders. So – again – its down to earth, pragmatic and systematic.
I finish the course with a description of a day when I was searching for stock ideas. I present the exact observations and decisions made by ValueTrend at the end of October (2 weeks ago) as the seasonal buy period came about. I present the macro analysis, sector rotation analysis, stock selection ideas and final decisions made on that day. So, the course is NOT theoretical or academic. It is pragmatic. This is the strength of this course. Its real, made for real people like you, who face very real challenges in an ever changing investing environment.
As you can tell – I am excited about this program!! As a reminder, for those of you who were kind enough to submit the questionnaire regarding this course…as promised, you will receive a special discount offer in your email box when it’s released.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TECHNICAL INVESTOR

Thank you for the update. Having read your books and having attended some of your seminar presentations I am really looking forward to another opportunity to learn from you.
Looking forward to it! I am an amateur when it comes to technical trading. I know you normally you do not comment on specific stocks. I am looking at a 1 year chart of teck resources. I am spotting a bullish flag formation. Am I wrong?
Disclosure: we own TECK. Its consolidating a bit as it plays with overhead resistance at $40. Not sure I’d say its a bullish formation, but its a pause – now we have to see if the stock can break out.
When looking at Teck, does technical analysis get thrown out the window with the floods happening in BC? I know Teck has been affected by them.
We look at permanent impact items vs “non-reoccurring” items on any news release or impact on a stock. A flood, a strike, a fire, a one-time loss is non-reoccurring. It can have current impact but not lasting. We have a position in teck. We are not selling.
